Jane Abbott has been a jillaroo, nurse, secretary, short-time teacher, office administrator and had a reluctant career in marketing. She now divides her time between Melbourne and central Victoria and has brought up two sons on her own.

Her manuscript Watershed written in 2013 was commended in the 2014 Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards for an unpublished manuscript and led to a place in the ACT Writers’ Hardcopy Professional Development Program for Australian Writers. Watershed was published in 2017. Jane has already published her second book, Elegy, a young adult novel.
